O painel reúne 100 palavras indígenas ou originadas de suas línguas e que compõem o português falado hoje no Brasil. Os 256 povos originários brasileiros resistem, vivem, atuam e marca a vida contemporânea brasileira. Falam mais de 150 línguas e vivem em todas as regiões do território nacional. A diversidade de suas identidades, de seus sistemas culturais, dos seus modos de viver e de suas visões de mundo é marca central da vida no nosso país.

Exemplo disso é o uso corrente das palavras – das quais destacamos apenas uma pequena parte – que se originam em seus sistemas sociais e culturais. Palavras que nomeiam lugares, animais, comidas, sentimentos, fazeres e que sobretudo inventam e reinventam os sentidos da vida cotidiana de todos nós.

The panel brings together 100 indigenous words or originated from their languages ​​and that make up the Portuguese spoken today in Brazil. The 256 Brazilian first peoples resist, live, act and mark contemporary Brazilian life. They speak more than 150 languages ​​and live in all regions of the national territory.

The diversity of their identities, cultural systems, ways of living and worldviews is a central feature of life in our country. An example of this is the current use of words – of which we have highlighted only a small part – that originate in their social and cultural systems. Words that name places, animals, foods, feelings, actions and that above all invent and reinvent the meanings of everyday life for all of us.
